ASI Audition

Service Description

Sign up for an appointment under one of the hour blocks between 2 and 6 PM. The audition process will consist of two parts. Auditions will begin promptly at the scheduled time. Plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early to check-in so you are ready to go when your name is called. Late arrivals may miss part of the audition process. The process: Each performer will have 2 mins total so time yourself as you practice. Part 1: Auditionees will perform a brief song (16 - 32 bars) and a memorized short monologue of their choice. Bring a binder with additional sheet music in case the audition panel requests to hear something else. An accompanist will be provided. Part 2: Following the individual auditions, there will be a group dance/movement observation for each hour block (i.e. - if you audition within the 2 PM hour, everyone in that timeframe will be grouped together to dance at 2:30 PM), so please be prepared to stay for at least an hour. No prior choreography needs to be prepared for this section. This portion allows the ASI team to assess how students learn movement, adapt to choreography, and perform in a group setting. *Tips: You may want to wear something comfortable that will work for both parts of the audition process. If you choose to change for the dance call, be sure you can do so quickly. Bring a water bottle with you as there is no working water fountain in the building.
